The Vegan Kind (TVK) is a British vegan-only retailer, founded in 2013 in Glasgow, Scotland, by Karris and Scott Gilchrist. The company began as a monthly vegan subscription box and expanded into a full online supermarket carrying chilled, frozen, and ambient grocery; beauty; household; and supplement lines.
Why it matters
The Vegan Kind is one of the largest vegan-only retailers in the UK and one of the best-known European examples of a vegan-native e-commerce operation scaling from a boxed-subscription format into full-basket grocery. The subscription product — a curated monthly box of vegan brands — also functions as a distribution channel for small independent vegan producers who might otherwise struggle to reach national customers.
